Opinions needed

Ok folks, here's the deal. I received an email from someone over at JEMS FireRescue magazine. They want to see about including my blog in a new site they plan on launching soon.

As long as they don't want me to actually identify who I am and where I work, or start to censor myself, I don't see a huge issue with it I guess. I'm just very apprehensive right now, mainly of what will happen if PTB find this blog (if they haven't already), and suddenly have a reason to turn their attention onto me.

So, what do you folks think? Should I go for it as long as I can remain anonymous and uncensored?

We felt the same way when the cop magazine found us. They were compiling a list of police blogs and put them up on their website for other LEO to see... We went with it.. But really it's a personal thing!

I say go for it. Just keep in mind when you write, that more people will br reading it and the chances of someone figuring it out is increased.

Good luck!!

As long as they respect your desire to remain anonymous, I say go for it.

I agree with Capt. Schmoe - keep in mind that more people will be reading and more than a few will try to find out who you are, so write accordingly.

One thing it will do is increase your readership, which is always nice.

I got the same email. Im waiting to see what its all about before I make a decision if I want to be involved or not.

I am in the fortunate position of not being anonymous and being able to blog with the full knowledge of my service management and Chief Executive (but that does limit me to what I can write about, but thats fine by me).

I guess the only issue to consider is if there is anything you have wrote about in the past that could be classed as 'bringing the service into disrepute'.

If so, then you could always go back and delete certain posts if you think they may get you into trouble.

If not, then go for it. If you can get the backing of your management, it gives you a certain amount of freedom by not having to worry about 'getting found out'.

I got the e-mail too. I wondered about discussing it on my blog... but I only have three readers and one of them is my mom so I didn't think that they'd care.

I'm all for it. See ya there

Oh, and Mark: I knew you wouldn't stay away while you were camping! Go fish or something!

That's tough - I like no one knowing me. I felt "violated" when my family found me out! Now I've got to watch what I say. Sortof : )
