We have two local cities that have a "Public Safety" department. All of their cops and firefighters are dual trained. They can even switch back and forth between police and fire.
Smitty, there's a couple places around here that do the combination department, but I wouldn't want to work for either one. Both because of distance and reputation/organization.
Ghostrider, I'll take my 80lbs of fire-resistant gear over that polyester junk that'll melt to ya any day of the week.
I'm married to a firefighter so I'll have to show your post to him. He always bugs me that when I got sworn in I was issued a badge and a gun, but when he was sworn in he was issued a blanket and a pillow.
On the job for a few years now, this is just my ramblings about the stupidity and humor that find their way into my life.
Oh, and of course this blog contains my personal opinions and perspective on things, which may not be shared with my place of employment.
